Thank you for all of your kind comments
We try very hard at 931 Beach to treat all of our guests as we ourselves would wish to be treated. Whether it is our commentary coffee and continental breakfast or the shells and stones that our LiZa collects to help entertain the little ones we want our guests to feel at home and become our friends. The kind comments of our “friends” have put us in the ninth position of the Trip Advisor web site and we want them to know we appreciate that.
We have decided to stay open until November 19th, this will be the last night to book until April of 2012. And as an added incentive there are special fall rates. The best way of obtaining these is to call LiZa, the innkeeper. This is the time for those who may not be beach people but who wish the relaxing experience of watching the beauty of the ocean and just “hanging out”. It is not uncommon to see a school of porpoise swimming close to the shore. Cape May is still completely open, all the shops and restaurants are ready to serve you. Now that is Halloween there are lots of activities to consider and perhaps you would find some you would consider.
So please call LiZa, 609-884-0275.
See you soon, I’m always around town.

CALLING ALL GHOSTS AND GLOBLINS!!
For all those looking for a spooky and scary Halloween season point your auto – or broom – in the direction of Cape May!
Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts – www.capemaymac.org has created a season of bewitching fun for the entire family.
Would you be interested in chasing ghosts through the darkened gas lit streets of Cape May on an old trolley while being entertained with the reading of spooky stories? Are you a brave enough soul to climb the darkened steps of the old Cape May Point Lighthouse as they creak with every step you take?
Madam Parmentier will be hosting Psychic Teas at the Physick Estate Tea House. I wonder what your future will hold; do you dare attend and ask?
Murder Mystery Dinners and Luncheons will be held though out our city. They are interactive and fun for everyone.
And for the really brave, how about spending the midnight hour in the century’s old – and perhaps haunted – Emlen Physick Mansion? Since space is limited for this creepy experience book early, you do not want to miss your favorite ghost.
The city is dressed in all the beautiful reds and gold’s of the season, with pumpkins, cornstalks and scarecrows everywhere.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN…marilyn
Good-Bye to Miss Irene and Welcome to Labor
931 Beach it standing proud and untouched by Irene. In fact all of Cape May City and the beach front faired very well during the storm. We are ready for our friends to visit us during this Labor Day Weekend. September 3rd should find you at the Windsor Beach from 1 to 3 pm for the Junior Clamshell Pitching Tournament. September 4th and 5th finds the Summer Send-Off Craft Show stretching down the promenade. Also on those days a Revolutionary War Encampment will be taking place at the Historic Cold Spring Village.
But although we are talking “end of summer” the months of September and October are beautiful months at the shore. The days are warm with soft breezes, low humidity and cool nights – good sleeping weather. The beaches are less crowded as well as the shops and restaurants which remain open through December.
So, please give LiZa a call and make that reservation for this autumn, you won’t be disappointed.

And this is just the beginning of September! Did I mention the beaches are at their best in September and October, all the shops and restaurants are open. Best of all, there is a relaxed atmosphere in the air. Remember Cape May Is beautiful in the fall.

Things to do in Cape May from July 31th to August 6th
Summer Fun For The Whole Family
Everyone loves the beach, especially the kids. But Cape May has planned family activities guaranteed to make happy memories.
Captain Kidd Treasure Hunt is scheduled for July 31th. Meet the Captain at 1 p.m. on the beach at Convention Hall to search for treasure he buried long ago.
National Night Out scheduled on August 3rd from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. is a music filled evening with things to do for all members of the family. The field at Cape May Elementary School is the site for games and attractions to delight and entertain everyone.
The 79th Annual Baby Parade, now this is a true seashore tradition for many communities, but none is done any better than here in Cape May. At 11 a.m. on August 6th be on Beach Avenue for the sight of the most beautiful children, dressed in their best, and presented on decorated floats and carriages.
Sand Sculpture Contest is for those endowed with lots of patience and imagination. The contest will begin on August 6th at 9 a.m. at 2nd Avenue beach. Even if you don’t want to compete come and be blown away with the unbelievable results.
National Lighthouse Day at the Cape May Lighthouse scheduled for August 7th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cape May Lighthouse. This family centered day is filled with games, music and crafts.
Can you believe all this is scheduled and we have not gotten any further than the first week in August? And to make it all the better most of these activities are within walking distance of 931 Beach.
See you on the beach……come and enjoy our BEAUTIFUL weather!

Happy Birthday U.S.A!
If you ever wanted to spend an Americana July 4th, the type that can only be found in an historic small town, meet me in Cape May.
On the 2nd a parade, lead by a military band, will march along Beach Avenue. The Kiwanis Club will be hosting a pancake breakfast that morning. Fireworks will be set off from the beach across from Congress Hall on the 4th. The scheduled concert for that Sunday at the Rotary Bandstand will be presented by the Congress Street Brass Band. The entire city will be festooned with flags, buntings and all that is Uncle Sam. This will be a perfect 4th!
If you haven’t checked out the recent reviews at www.tripadvisors.com please do so. I can rant and rave about how great 931 Beach and the whole city of Cape May is, but it is always better to hear it from those who have been our recent satisfied and happy guests.
These are the plans for our country’s upcoming birthday. Just to be a tease, the beach has been beautiful! Yes, the surf is still a wee bit chilly but not that bad. It has been very hot here recently, and besides little kids never seem to admit to being cold. See you at the beach!!!
Memorial Day In Cape May, New Jersey
Memorial Day is traditionally the start of the summer season, but not here in Cape May. We have been going strong since Presidents Day in February.
Arts and Antiques will be the order of the day on the 28th. It will be hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts at their home on Washington St. Further information can be found on their web site, www.capemaymac.org.
Since we are a patriotic city there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony at 9 a.m. on the 30th at the Columbia Avenue Monument. The city has a love-love relationship with our Coast Guard Training Center therefore I can promise one of their bands will be in attendance to get everything started.
We’ve included pictures of our Washington Street Mall, a treasure of unique and interesting shops and boutiques.
A season of band concerts will commence on the 29th. A favorite of all, and presented three times a weeks at the Rotary Bandstand at the park situated between Lyle Lane and Lafayette Street. These are a free offer presented by the city. Concerts are varied and include brass bands, barbershop singers and even a hobo band. Bring a chair, sit on the grass or grab a park bench. Lyle Lane is closed to traffic so there is plenty of space for all. We’ve included a picture of the bandstand so it can be easily recognized when you visit our special city.
Well, this is all for now. Don’t forget to make your reservations on line or make that phone call to LiZa. 609-884-0275
